CanGEA's Grassroots Energy Campaign

The Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) has recently launched our grassroots clean energy campaign, ‘powEARTHful’ Energy. They are asking renewable energy supporters to help show the Canadian government the need for a clean energy future.

Many countries have identified geothermal as a strategic and important part of their energy supply, with the US as the leading developer. So, why not Canada? By tapping into this unused source of high capacity base-load power and heat, it's possible to develop an industry that will provide business development opportunities here in Canada and internationally, create jobs, broaden the market for technology transfer, provide energy and food security to millions while further cleaning the Canadian and US power grids.

Geothermal electricity is being used in 24 other countries, and over 80 countries incorporate geothermal direct use of heat into their energy mix. Canada has what it takes to develop our own geothermal industry. As recently as 2010, members of CanGEA produced more than 20% of the world's geothermal energy -- just not in Canada.

With a strong natural resources experience, we have the expertise and industry technology that will get this industry going here in Canada.
