GA: 27 Major New Clean Energy Projects Announced Since IRA as State Biz Leaders Visit DC; 600 Jobs, $344M Announced in Feb

Businesses have announced 27 major new clean energy and electric vehicle (EV) projects in Georgia since the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was signed into law after a $344 million solar glass manufacturing facility was announced last month, according to the monthly tally of private-sector announcements from E2. The new project – which is expected to create at least 600 new jobs – keeps Georgia in the lead for the most large-scale clean energy projects announced since the IRA and pushes the total number of jobs announced as part of projects over 15,000.

E2’s February analysis comes as state clean energy business leaders met in Washington with Republican and Democratic members of Congress from Georgia and the Southeast to urge their support for the IRA and oppose efforts to roll back or repeal the historic tax incentives driving the major investments in clean energy and EVs in the state.

Following is a statement from Michael Timberlake, E2 communications director:

“If it wasn’t clear before, it is now. Lawmakers in Washington would be foolish to extinguish the IRA and its economic spark fueling America’s next great economic expansion. The clean energy transition is creating thousands of jobs and billions in economic growth for both rural and urban workers, blue states and red states, and every region in the U.S.”

In all, companies have announced over 15,000 new jobs and $15 billion in capital investments in connection with projects announced in Georgia. Nationally, 292 projects, 102,000 new jobs, and $118 billion in new investments have been announced in 41 states and Puerto Rico. These figures reflect ongoing revisions to previous months’ announcement totals.
