New York Power Authority Issues RFP on Delivery of Renewable Energy into New York City

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on the delivery of renewable energy into New York City through the Hudson Transmission Project (HTP), a 660-megawatt (MW) primarily underground and underwater transmission line that runs between Ridgefield, New Jersey and New York City.

The RFP seeks to identify renewable energy developers or suppliers interested in delivering renewable energy resources into New York through the HTP cable. NYPA will also consider a wide array of proposals to aid in the delivery of renewable energy through the project, including proposals that incorporate storage solutions—standalone or co-located with generating facilities.

Responses for this RFP should be sent to [email protected] by Friday, November 1, 2024. Additional information can be found on the Power Authority’s Procurement webpage.

New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll said, “NYPA is seeking proposals from renewable energy developers and suppliers that can provide clean energy to New York City through the Hudson Transmission Project cable. Through this RFP, NYPA will gain a better understanding of market participants that can supply renewable energy into New York City today and into the future.”

The Power Authority’s positive impact on New York’s carbon footprint dates to the 1950s and 1960s when it constructed the state’s largest hydroelectric power plants in Niagara and Massena. Over decades of innovation—from modernized generation and transmission to renewable energy and clean transportation—NYPA is now well-positioned to help the state move into the next era of renewable energy production and realize its bold clean energy goals.
