NHEC Applauds President Trump’s Energy Leadership in Joint Address to Congress
The National Hispanic Energy Council (NHEC) commends President Trump for his bold leadership on energy policy, as highlighted in his address to Congress. His declaration of a national energy emergency on day one has set the stage for a long-overdue course correction—one that prioritizes energy security, affordability, and economic opportunity for all Americans, especially Hispanic families and small businesses.
President Trump’s commitment to cutting bureaucratic red tape, fast-tracking critical energy projects, and reversing costly mandates is already yielding results. By removing unnecessary barriers to domestic production and ensuring a reliable energy supply, his administration is directly addressing the disproportionate energy burden Hispanic households face, who on average pay 20% more than the median American family.
“For too long, misguided policies have driven up costs and hurt the very communities that can least afford it,” NHEC Chair Julio Fuentes said. “The Trump Administration is putting America’s energy future back on the right track. It’s leadership in unleashing domestic production, halting regulatory overreach, and ensuring affordable energy access is exactly what Hispanic families and small businesses need to thrive.”
The impact of the Trump Administration’s energy policies is already being felt: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has cited his national energy emergency in its push to fast-track permitting for hundreds of fossil fuel projects, while major energy producers like Chevron and BP are ramping up production. The administration has also approved a long-delayed liquefied natural gas export terminal, a critical step toward strengthening America’s energy independence and global competitiveness.
NHEC remains committed to advocating for energy policies that promote economic growth, energy independence, and lower costs for Hispanic households and businesses. We look forward to working alongside the administration to ensure a future of affordable, reliable energy for all.
