Big Operator Relies on Bachmann Electronic

The new M100 system from Bachmann electronic is now in field use for the first time: The M100 station with the UIO106 input/output module is taking on a key role in a wind farm operated by a large operator in northern Germany. The project serves as a demonstrator for a retrofit solution for the remote control and monitoring of older Vestas V90 wind turbines that are no longer maintained by the manufacturer.

A Bachmann MC212 controller module is installed in the nacelle of the wind turbine, giving the plant operator remote access to the functions and real-time data of the turbine, which it previously did not have with the manufacturer. The M100 station is installed in the tower base of the turbine and allows service technicians to access the wind turbine's control unit. The system reads the service key switch and shows the remote access on the display, with the highest priority being given to on-site service and transmitting information about remote access and status. Communication between the M100 station and the MC212 module in the nacelle takes place via a fiber optic cable already installed for a Bachmann CMS in combination with media converters.

Bachmann electronic and the operator have already started discussions about the next development steps: Following the creation of a prototype for the entire V90 fleet. The solution will then later go into series production.
