Origami Partners with PeakGen to Move Battery into Dynamic Containment
PeakGen, a growing distributed energy and flexibility company, has partnered with Origami, the independent green energy technology provider, to manage a battery asset for participation in Dynamic Containment (DC).
Origami's platform will enable PeakGen to extract operational data from the battery, visualise it against market and contractual data in real-time, and automatically schedule ancillary services to draw out the most value possible.
Fast-growing energy companies are increasingly looking for a 'software layer' that will support them in getting the best lifetime value from their assets, as short-term power markets continue to become more complex and dynamic. Visualising the right data at the right time helps energy companies improve their short-term decision-making and strategic control, across a widening array of opportunities and value pools.
As these opportunities arise, evolve, and dissipate, portfolio owners need the means to dynamically access emerging revenue streams in order to effectively monetise assets. By working with Origami, PeakGen is seizing the potential of versatile energy software to futureproof its assets, starting with this battery project in Peterborough.
Ian Graves, CEO of PeakGen, said: "Origami shares our ethos of entrepreneurship and finding the nimble approaches needed to succeed amid evolving opportunities. The team at Origami are fellow new entrants to this landscape, and their take on digitalisation is a breath of fresh air that will help us get our assets into gear for the long haul, beginning with this switch to Dynamic Containment."
Peter Bance, CEO of Origami, said: "We're very happy to have PeakGen as the newest addition to our growing customer base in the UK. It's important that distributed energy companies retain the market flexibility that makes them so versatile, and independent technology solutions go hand in hand with enabling that."
"Our modular, open-by-design platform allows asset owners and operators to avoid relying entirely on single routes to market. We hope to work with PeakGen on more of their assets soon, and help them continue the fantastic work they've been doing to drive forward the UK's energy transition."
