The Product Evaluation Team at NACE got their hands on feel in a pair of these boots and the response was postiive!

5 out of 5 stars!

It’s been a couple of months now on our swampy Mississippi construction site, where it either rains heavily or is hotter’n you-know-where. Keen’s new Evanston boot is up to the task. Keen’s boast is that the Evanston provides protection like a boot, but feels like a sneaker. I rate this boot highly on both comfort and protection. I wore it for long days straight out of the box and came away with absolutely no chaffing or sore spots on my feet or ankles. The choice of carbon fiber for the toe box as opposed to steel has a couple of benefits: carbon fiber is much lighter than steel, but it still gives your toes much-needed protection on the job site. The toe box will also not conduct cold (or hot) to your toes as quickly as steel does. So far I have not seen any deterioration in the glues or stitching. The one caveat with this boot however is the sole. Because it is chunky – which admittedly does help with the soft and supportive feel of this boot – you have to watch your foot placement on ladders and other areas where you need to feel where your feet are. Overall a great boot for standing, lifting, and walking around on concrete or mud, but not nimble enough for framing projects that take you off the ground. Five out of five for quality, features and comfort. Price point is comparable to other highly engineered, eco-conscious boots on the market.
