Marten Transport Reduces Carbon Footprint with Help from All Energy Solar
Marten Transport, a transportation company serving the United States and Mexico, started in 1946 with a single milk truck in rural Wisconsin. Nearly 80 years later, Marten has transformed into an international transportation and logistics company that exemplifies the transformative power of solar energy. Given the nature of their industry, which operates thousands of trucks and where equipment maintenance is vital for the safety of their drivers, employees, and customers' products, Marten began to evaluate different ways to reduce their carbon footprint across all areas of their operations.
Installing solar energy to supplement their energy needs at terminals and maintenance facilities has been a key factor in Marten's sustainability push over the last decade. These projects save on energy costs, which supports Marten's bottom line and is integral to demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility through enhanced operational efficiency. In many respects, Marten is paving the way for a more sustainable future in the transportation industry.
In 2018, Marten Transport first partnered with All Energy Solar as its solar provider, attracted to the company's stability and capacity to offer a turnkey approach to the organization's needs across the U.S. Since then, All Energy Solar has provided full-service solar energy solutions designed and installed at 17 project sites.
"It's our job to help customers like Marten understand the benefits of alternative energy solutions, providing them with a tremendous amount of predictable energy savings long term," said Michael Thalhimer, Director of Business Development at All Energy Solar.
The partnership started with rooftop solar arrays installed on three of their facilities in Mondovi, Wisconsin. Arrays atop the headquarters office and tractor and trailer mechanic shops produce over 175kW of clean energy, marking a powerful stride forward in Marten's sustainability journey.
"Choosing All Energy Solar was one of the smartest things we have done here at Marten Transport, said David Meyer, Senior Vice President at Marten Transport. "We were so impressed with the team's transparency throughout the process that we decided to work with them across our whole network around the US."
Outside of Marten's home state of Wisconsin, All Energy Solar has also installed projects for the carrier in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, and Oregon. Over roughly seven years, rooftop solar arrays, parking lot solar canopies, and battery storage systems have all been completed.
All Energy Solar offers various services, including residential solar, commercial solar, energy storage, electric vehicle chargers, smart electric panels, and roofing in limited locations. The company installs residentially in Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, and performs commercial installations nationally and internationally.
