Nevados Announces its Breakthrough Next-generation Solar Tracking Solution Designed “From the Ground Up” for Challenging Terrain

Nevados Inc., developer of the only solar tracker solution engineered from the ground up for challenging terrain, announced it is taking orders for its new TRACE solar tracking solution.

TRACE is the next generation of Nevados’ already market-leading All Terrain Tracker — designed to work with Earth’s topography, including steep and undulating terrain of up to 37% slopes, and turn it into profitable, solar power plants that preserve native topsoil.

TRACE continues Nevados’ tradition of innovation. It includes updated mechanicals, integrated software and controls to include features such as 75° Hail Stow, further reducing project risk from wind, snow and hail. It features terrain-aware Zero-Shade Backtracking for improved energy yields. The same technology that adapts to hilly sites continues to make it one of the fastest trackers to install.

“With TRACE, we have taken our All Terrain Tracker, already the most capable and easiest to install on the market, and made it a more cohesive and fully-featured product,” said Yezin Taha, CEO and founder of Nevados.

Project risk mitigation

●       The TRACE system features bi-directional, automatic stow, resulting in up to 50% faster wind and hail stow, avoiding the tracker from having to go through 0 degrees.

●       75° Hail Stow reduces the probability of maximum loss (PML) from hail by up to 11X compared to 52° stow.

●       Other features include flood, rain, and system protection stow protocols.

Terrain-optimized energy production

●       Zero-Shade Backtracking — tracker rotation schedules that account for your specific terrain profile and can reduce the terrain effects of shading by up to 50%. Included on every project at no additional cost.

●       Half-Shade Backtracking — split module schedules to increase annual yield by up to 0.5%. Also included.

●       Diffuse Boost can boost annual yields by up to 0.65%.

Customer experience

●       35% reduced part count and factory pre-kitting of components takes a tracker that is already 38% faster to install than three leading competitors’ systems and makes it even easier — simplifying on-site operations.

●       The first tracker qualified for use with Milwaukee’s Controlled Torque Impact Wrench, for 3X faster bolt tightening proven in 2024 trials.

●       O&M Dashboard by Nevados features a clean and elegant tracker management system, including access to historical records.

Maintenance benefits

●       Kinematics ST Drive eliminates greasing requirements to be maintenance-free.

●       Designed for reduced loads on tracker during stow for hail or rain.

●       No grading preserves topsoil, with no re-vegetation necessary

The enhanced controls features included in TRACE, in addition to their technical capabilities, stand out in the market as they are included in the solution at no additional cost

“As flat or gently sloping land becomes scarcer and more expensive, the solar industry needs solutions that can adapt to the world’s diverse terrains more than ever,” said Yezin Taha. “Our continued innovation redefines the possibilities for solar energy development. We’re enabling fast and efficient deployment on sites that were previously considered too complex or cost-prohibitive.”

Nevados is taking orders for the TRACE All Terrain Tracker system now for delivery in Q2 2025. It can be ordered as a fully qualified domestic content tracker for the U.S. market, helping solar developers satisfy requirements for additional tax credits created by the Inflation Reduction Act. Versions produced overseas remain available for customers who don’t require U.S. domestic content.

The TRACE system will be on display at Nevados’ RE+ booth D24705 in Hall D at the Anaheim Convention Center September 9–12. RE+ attendees are encouraged to visit the booth to see this next-generation solar tracker in person and talk with on-site experts in its design and installation.
