Octopus Energy Generation CEO Comments on US Green Energy Growth Figures

Following the news of the US adding 20.2 GW of new energy capacity in the first half of 2024, largely driven by solar power, please find a comment below from Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation

Octopus Energy’s generation arm is a global renewable energy investor with a nearly $9bn portfolio of green energy projects worldwide. The company made its first US renewables investments this year, acquiring two solar farms in Ohio and Pennsylvania with a combined capacity of 100 MW, enough to power 20,000 homes a year. Octopus also announced plans to invest $2bn into the US clean energy market by 2030. This comes as the US has set out a target of 80% renewable energy generation by 2030.

Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy Generation, comments:

“This is positive news for US renewables as the country accelerates its shift to clean energy. Solar energy is clearly playing an increasingly vital role in America’s energy system - and we made our first step into US renewables just a few months ago with our investment in two new solar farms. There’s enormous untapped potential for green energy in America, especially harnessing power from the sunshine. We’ve got a big pipeline of projects in the US and we’re ready to unleash $2 billion into this exciting clean energy market by 2030.”
